TODAY IS THE DAY

I'm casting my cares aside
I'm leaving my past behind
I'm setting my heart and mind on You
Jesus

I'm reaching my hand to Yours
Believing there's so much more
Knowing that all You have in store for me is good, Is good

Today is the day You have made
I will rejoice and be glad in it

TRADING MY SORROWS

I'm trading my sorrows
I'm trading my shame
I'm laying them down
For the joy of the Lord
I'm trading my sickness
I'm trading my pain
I'm laying them down
For the joy of the Lord

(We say) Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord, Amen

I'm trading my sorrows
I'm trading my shame
I'm laying them down
For the joy of the Lord
I'm trading my sickness
I'm trading my pain
I'm laying them down
For the joy of the Lord

(We say) Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord, Amen

I am pressed but not crushed
Persecuted, not abandoned
Struck down but not destroyed
And I am blessed beyond the curse
For His promise will endure
That His joy is gonna be my strength

Though the sorrow may last for the night
His joy comes in the morning

I'm trading my sorrows
I'm trading my shame
I'm laying them down
For the joy of the Lord
I'm trading my sickness
I'm trading my pain
I'm laying them down
For the joy of the Lord

(We say) Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord, Amen

(We say) Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord, Amen

WHO YOU SAY I AM

Who am I that the highest King
Would welcome me?
I was lost but He brought me in
Oh His love for me
Oh His love for me

Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I'm a child of God
Yes I am

Free at last, He has ransomed me
His grace runs deep
While I was a slave to sin
Jesus died for me
Yes He died for me

Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I'm a child of God
Yes I am
In my Father's house
There's a place for me
I'm a child of God
Yes I am

I am chosen
Not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me
Not against me
I am who You say I am

I am chosen
Not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me
Not against me
I am who You say I am

I am chosen
Not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me
Not against me
I am who You say I am
Yes, I am who You say I am

Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I'm a child of God
Yes I am
In my Father's house
There's a place for me
I'm a child of God
Yes I am

In my Father's house
There's a place for me
I'm a child of God
Yes I am

HE LEADETH ME, O BLESSED THOUGHT

Verse 1
He leadeth me! O blessed thought,
O words with Heavenly comfort fraught;
Whate'er I do, where'er I be,
Still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.

CHORUS
He leadeth me, He leadeth me!
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.

Verse 2
Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in mine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content whatever lot I see,
Since 'tis my God that leadeth me

Verse 3
And when my task on earth is done,
When by Thy grace the victory's won,
E'en death's cold wave I will not flee,
Still God through Jordan leadeth me.

I WILL SERVE THEE

I will serve Thee because I love Thee,
You have given life to me.
I was nothing before You found me,
You have given life to me.
Heartaches, broken pieces,
Ruined lives are why You died on Calvary.
Your touch is what I longed for,
You have given life to me.

PRAYER

SERMON: LIVING IT 7 DAYS A WEEK (JAMES 1:19-27)

Following Christ is not just a compartment in our life. It is our life. The Christian life is not just lived out at certain times or one day a week on Sundays, it is a 7 days a week lifestyle. The Christian takes Christ with them wherever they go. We have to live out our faith 7 days a week.

3 Ways to Keep Living Out Your Faith 7 Days a Week

1. Tune Your Ears to the Holy Spirit

19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
-James 1:19-21, ESV

Tuning your ears to the Holy Spirit means adjusting both how I listen and what I listen to.

3 Reasons Why Tuning Your Ears to the Holy Spirit is Important
1. A failure to really listen often leads to being easily angered and human anger never leads to doing what’s right in God’s eyes.
2. Who/What I listen to has an impact on my attitude and actions.
3. You can’t receive what God has for you unless you are willing to listen.

A Simple Prayer When Listening: “Holy Spirit help me to hear”.

2. Follow-Through with Your Hands When God’s Word Hits Your Heart

22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
-James 1:22-24, ESV

The goal of reading the Bible is not simply understanding, it’s understanding that leads to obedience. God doesn’t just want you informed; He wants you transformed. It’s foolishness to hear what God says and then do nothing about it. It carries its own kind of consequences. At best it makes a Christian look incompetent, but many times it looks hypocritical and can damage other’s faith. It causes us to miss out on the blessings of God. It leads to self-deception and an empty faith. After reading the Bible we should always ask ourselves, “Now what I am I going to do about this?”

Is there anything from God that has challenged you recently that you have forgotten about or not followed through on?

3 Steps for Follow-Through
1. Write Down What You Need to Do
2. Tell Someone Else and Ask Them to Follow-Up with You
3. Take Action

3. Honor Your Heavenly Father with Your Walk and Your Talk

26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless. 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
-James 1:26-27, ESV

If God doesn’t have control of your mouth, it’s a sure sign that He doesn’t have control of your heart. Your words reflect what’s really going on in your heart.

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
-Luke 6:45, NIV

Two Statements God Wants to See Lived Out in Every Christians Daily Walk:

  1. “I want to help those in need.”

  2. “I want to stay away from sin.”

TRUST AND OBEY

Verse 1
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What glory He sheds on our way.
While we do His good will
He abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obey.

CHORUS
Trust and obey,
For there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

Verse 2
Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can remain when we trust and obey.

Verse 3
Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly replay.
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.

Verse 4
Then in fellowship sweet,
We will sit at His feet,
Or we'll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
