OPEN UP THE HEAVENS
We've waited for this day
We're gathered in your name
Calling out to you
Your glory like a fire
Awakening desire
Will burn our hearts with truth
You're the reason we're here
You're the reason we're singing
Open up the heavens
We want to see you
Open up the floodgates
A mighty river
Flowing from your heart
Filling every part of our praise
Your presence in this place
Your glory on our face
We're looking to the sky
Descending like a cloud
You're standing with us now
Lord, unveil our eyes
You're the reason we're here
You're the reason we're singing
So open up the heavens
We want to see you
Open up the floodgates
A mighty river
Flowing from your heart
Filling every part of our praise
Yes, So open up the heavens
We want to see you
Open up the floodgates
A mighty river
Flowing from your heart
Filling every part of our praise
Show us, show us your glory
Show us, show us your power
Show us, show us your glory, Lord
Show us, show us your glory
Show us, show us your power
Show us, show us your glory, Lord
We want to see you
We want to see you, open up the heavens
We want to see you
Open up the floodgates
A mighty river
Flowing from your heart
Filling every part of our praise
Sing, sing, open up the heavens
We want to see you
Open up the floodgates
A mighty river
Flowing from your heart
Filling every part of our praise
HALLELUJAH PRAISE JEHOVAH
Verse 1
Hallelujah, praise Jehovah,
from the heavens praise his name;
praise Jehovah in the highest,
all his angels, praise proclaim.
All his hosts, together praise him,
sun and moon and stars on high;
praise him, O you heav'ns of heavens,
and you floods above the sky.
Chorus
Let them praises give Jehovah,
for his name alone is high,
and his glory is exalted,
and his glory is exalted,
and his glory is exalted
far above the earth and sky.
Verse 2
Let them praises give Jehovah,
they were made at his command;
them forever he established,
his decree shall ever stand.
From the earth O praise Jehovah,
all you seas, you monsters all,
fire and hail and snow and vapors,
stormy winds that hear his call.
Verse 3
All you fruitful trees and cedars,
all you hills and mountains high,
creeping things and beasts and cattle,
birds that in the heavens fly,
kings of earth and all you people,
princes great, earth's judges all,
praise his name, young men and maidens,
aged men and children small
SHOUT TO THE LORD
My Jesus, my Saviour
Lord there is none like You
All of my days I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love
My comfort, my shelter
Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You
Shout to the Lord all the Earth, let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands
Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have
In You
My Jesus, my Saviour
Lord there is none like You
All of my days I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love
My comfort
My shelter
Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You
Shout to the Lord all the Earth, let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands
Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have
In You
Shout to the Lord all the Earth, let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands
Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have
Oh nothing compares to the promise I have
Nothing compares to the promise I have
In You
Goodness of God
I love You, Lord
For Your mercy never fails me
All my days, I've been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
Cause all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
And in darkest night You are close like no other
I've known You as a Father
I've known You as a Friend
And I have lived in the goodness of God, yeah
And all my life You have been faithful, ohh
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God, yeah
'Cause Your goodness is running after, it's running after me
Your goodness is running after, it's running after me
With my life laid down, I'm surrendered now
I give You everything
'Cause Your goodness is running after, it's running after me, oh-ohh
'Cause Your goodness is running after, it's running after me
Your goodness is running after, it's running after me
With my life laid down, I'm surrendered now
I give You everything
'Cause Your goodness is running after, it keeps running after me
And all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I'm gonna sing of the goodness of God
I'm gonna sing, I'm gonna sing
'Cause all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I'm gonna sing of the goodness of God
Oh, I'm gonna sing of the goodness of God
PRAYER
MESSAGE: MORE POWER THAN PROBLEMS (ROMANS 8:17-39)
Gospel = The Good News of Jesus
Recap
1. The gospel changes us by filling our hearts with a hope that does not disappoint.
2. God’s grace is more than sufficient for our worst sins and toughest situations.
3. Grace is not meant to give us a license to sin, rather a life free from the power of sin.
4. Religion without a relationship never leads to true righteousness.
5. The Christian life is impossible without the Holy Spirit.
Today’s Point: The gospel doesn’t promise a problem free life. It promises the power to be victorious despite our problems.
Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
-Romans 8:17, NIV
Four Truths to Remind You that There is More Power than Problems in the Christian Life
1. Today’s Problems Don’t Compare to Tomorrow’s Party (Vs. 18-25)
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
-Romans 8:18, NIV
God calls us to live with a patient hope. Problems need to be put in perspective. They can’t compare to the good that’s coming. We find strength because we look forward with eager expectation of what God will do. The person who has the hope of God can and will endure.
2. The Holy Spirit is Still Working Even When We’re Weak (Vs. 26-27)
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
-Romans 8:26, NIV
God is still working even when you’re weak. Keep leaning into Him. Even if you have no words, it's never a waste of time to pray. Perhaps some of the most powerful prayers have no words at all. The Spirit speaks even when we cannot and if God is still moving there’s still power.
3. Problems Can’t Change God’s Plan (Vs. 28-30)
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
-Romans 8:28, NIV
You can be sure that God finishes what He starts. No problem can stop Gods plans and purposes. If you love God and are walking in those purposes, all the pain and problems are working for your good. It’s not about your strength. It’s about His strength. Do you believe He can work it all for good?
4. God’s Love is Our Powerline (Vs. 31-39)
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
-Romans 8:37, NIV
Love is the most powerful force in all of creation. Nothing can move, sustain, and encourage a person like love. The Christian has constant access to the perfect love of God. Nothing can hinder the love of God. It’s too strong to be stopped. Pain may make you feel like a victim for a moment, but if you have the love of God you are more than conqueror. If God loves you, is there any hate in this world that can stop you?
AMAZING GRACE MY CHAINS ARE GONE
Amazing grace, How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace
The Earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine
